2016 Travel Wishlist

Hands up who else is utterly fed up of the British weather now? I can’t see you because that’s sadly how the internet works, but I imagine there are hands flying up all over the place right now. With memories of Christmas and the ‘new year new me’ vibes well in the past, and Spring/Summer still looking like they’re far off in the distance, it’s no surprise that this is the time of year that a lot people  start planning their getaways for the next year. I’m no different, and last week booked flights with a couple of friends to Barcelona in April.

I’m SO excited, but it also got me thinking about where else is on my travel hitlist for 2016. Last year I managed to visit Paris and Amsterdam (as well as a little summer trip to Marbella) and this year I hope to go further afield while still ticking off a few European city breaks. So, if there are any secret millionaires reading this blog who fancy treating me, please behold my holiday wishlist…

Barcelona1. Barcelona I’ve wanted to go to Barcelona for a couple of years now, so I’m SO happy to finally have my flights booked. For me, the destination seems like a bit of a ‘best of both worlds’ trip; there’s the city break element complete with sightseeing hotspots (and LOADS of churches, which are kind of my number 1 nerdy tourist thing), but then there’s also the beach holiday side to things where you can spend an afternoon lounging on a beach with a cocktail. I’ll be stalking this Barcelona travel guide a lot more before we head off, but one thing we’ve all agreed we would would like to do is a vesping tour of the city, where you follow a GPS to the key sites. If anyone has any more recommendations, then please let me know in the comments!

Miami2. Miami, Florida There are loads of places in America that are on my wishlist, but one that I might be able to tick off this year is Miami. I might be going on my first family holiday in about 12 years this year, as my sister’s offered to take me along to Disney World in Orlando (I think essentially as a kind of glorified babysitter for my niece and nephew, which I am SO fine with if it means hanging out with Disney princesses). This will be amazing enough on its own as I’ve never even been to Disneyland Paris, but one extra thing we’ve spoke about getting out of the trip is a flying visit to Miami. I think I basically just want to wear a white trouser suit and pretend I’m in Miami Vice, but again if you have any more substantial suggestions then please let me know.

travel 43. Prague Another city break that’s on my wishlist for a couple of years is Prague. The Gothic architecture looks stunning, and there seems to have an almost fairytale look about the city. I’ve heard how amazing Prague is in the winter when there’s snow, but as I’m not the biggest fan of the cold (hence why skiing holidays will never feature on any wishlist of mine ever ever ever), I think I would stick to going in the spring or autumn when it’s mild – or maybe even in October for my birthday, cough cough hint hint to that secret millionaire I mentioned.

travel 14. Dubai Finally, my year would be complete if I could also finally manage a trip to Dubai. One of mine and Lauren’s best friends from uni lives there, and we’ve been meaning to go and visit her for EVER (or approx three years since she moved back, anyway). I know it might be a bit of a shock to my system being on a holiday where I’m not allowed to throw up sambuca on the street (sorry Magaluf, and every other chavvy holiday destination of my youth…)  but now that I’m allegedly an adult, Dubai looks like the perfect destination.

Have you been to any of these places? And where would you love to go in 2016? Let me know in the comments!

Barcelona is incredible – you will love it. Park Guell is a must! I’d love to go to Prague too, but I think the cold weather would make it even better (more fairytale like!)

I haven’t been away since June and I’m itching to travel! I really want to visit Miami, or anywhere in America to be honest! A road trip visiting loads of states would be amazing. Prague is such a beautiful city, I went last year in September and the weather was really lovely! Not to hot but not cold at all and it wasn’t ridiculously busy either!

All of these places look gorgeous! It’s currently -27 degrees celsius here in Canada… so I don’t know if I’d really mind the weather in England! Although I’d really love to visit Thailand soon too!

Haha! You’re certainly right about imagining hands flying up as I’ve got both of my hands raised. I honestly cannot wait for summer to arrive 🙁 I was looking forward to going away on holiday with my girls but that doesn’t look likely now as I’m probably going to be using my annual leave to carry out some work experience. Wah! I really need a holiday 🙁 X
