Outfit of the Day: Bank Holiday Special

This is our first Outfit of the Day post and, true to form, we are doing it in a slightly askew way as it’s actually Outfits of the Weekend That We Were Too Lazy to Post at the Time (or #ootwtwwtltpatt for you Instagrammers out there).

So, how lucky were we with the weather over our little three-day weekend? Many a chance for activities and summery clothes for once. Here’s a little summary of what we did and, more importantly, what we wore whilst doing it:

Saturday

On Saturday we had a little night out to reward ourselves for a, um, hard week of working and cocktail-sipping.

I had an absolute outfit catastrophe, as firstly the Asos midi that I had to planned to wear all week and had no qualms about whatsoever suddenly looked awful (how does this happen? How and why?) and then my back-up dress which was a mint-coloured mini dress had a hole in it. Unimpressed face. So I eventually ended up settling on a black crop top from Primark, a monochrome high-waisted skirt from Topshop that I have had for around four years, and a massive grump about the whole thing.

Lauren was much more successful, wearing a black Bardot from Missguided (similar here), a neon skater skirt from H&M and black wedges from New Look.

Sunday

On Sunday, we were feeling somewhat delicate from the night before. After spending the day in bed spooning a bottle of flavoured water, I eventually braved an evening out with my boyfriend and a couple of his friends. Nothing says sayonara to a hangover quite like a fajita and a daiquiri. I wore another Primark crop top, with a royal blue Topshop maxi skirt (there is a similar midi version here).

Lauren headed off to Birmingham for the rest of the weekend. Still loving neon (a post on her new obsession is coming soon!), she donned another H&M skater skirt. She made it daytime-appropriate with a vintage tee, Topshop denim jacket and summery shoes from Asos.

Monday

I finished off my bank holiday celebrations with a barbecue. It was windier than anticipated and my haloumi was severely burnt, but a good time was still had by all. I wore a Primark Aztec-print skater dress, a thick gold chain from eBay (which is my new favourite bit of jewellery, though opinion seems very divided on it) and a trusty pair of white low-top Converse.
