Cedarwood Spa @ Forest of Arden Hotel | Review

Forest Of Arden Spa Review

Okay, unladylike confession time: up until a couple of weeks ago, I had never experienced a spa day. Or even a spa. Or even a swimming pool that wasn’t in a grotty leisure centre or an Ibiza hotel, to be honest. It was something that hadn’t appealed to me, probably just because I didn’t have a need for it. But, as I’ve sashayed through my 20s and started experiencing more stressful situations (have you ever dealt with letting agents?!), the urge for a relaxaing, pampering experience has been stronger and stronger. So when I was recently invited along to visit the Cedarwood Spa in the nearby Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel, I jumped at the chance.

On my arrival at the hotel, I knew I was in for a day of luxury. The location and building are absolutely gorgeous, set in loads of land that even have deer roaming around. (I’d taken my boyfriend as my +1 and he was raving about the golf course too, so if you’re that way inclined – ie a golf saddo – then that’s probably another bonus point.) Once inside, the staff were really helpful, giving us a tour of the spa and pool area and supplying us with robes and slippers.

The spa has a pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, as well as treatment rooms that offer a number of beauty treatments. We were kindly given the choice from couple of treatments to try, and we both opted for the Decleor Aromablend massage. This was “a personalised body sculpting massage with blending of aromatherapy oils to focus on harmonising body and mind“. After a consultation in the relaxing waiting area, we went through for our treatments.

It was a full body massage that lasted at least 45 minutes (though as I was my upper thighs were getting a rubbing I did think that maybe I should have booked the boyfriend in for a facial instead).

After the massages, I was so relaxed that I probably could have just curled up on one of the chaise lounges and fell asleep. But in the interest of this review, and not being too strange in public, we went to check out the rest of the facilities. I think we spent about an hour and a half chilling out in the pool, steam room and sauna. And with a cafe and bar attached, we easily could have spent longer. As we went on a Monday afternoon, the whole spa was really quiet and it was just the most relaxing time ever.

I think it’s safe to say I’m now converted to the spa experience thanks to the Forest of Arden Marriott. If you’re local to Meriden/Birmingham, then I definitely recommend paying it a visit. You can find out more about the Cedarwood Spa deals, treatments and facilities here.
