Christmas Party Makeup | Tips & Must-Haves

Party 1

As the song goes: ’tis the season to get drunk with your colleagues off free table wine and make a complete tit of yourself.

I had my Christmas party last week,  but if you’re one of the lucky ones who still has yours to come (the closer your party is to Christmas = the more time you have off to recover from your shame, winner winner) then here are a few must-haves to ensure you look your best, even if you’re not acting it.

Party 6Non-SPF Foundation

Any photos that are taken during your Christmas party are likely to be a bit embarrassing, but one embarrassment you won’t have to face if you follow this tip is tanned-body-white-face syndrome. If you’s ever had a photo taken with a flash and found that you suffered from this effect then it’s because your foundation has an SPF in. Choose one without an SPF, such as my beloved NARS Sheer Glow and your base will look even and flawless.

Party 2Bold Lipstick

A bold lip is a must-have all throughout the Christmas season and especially at a party. To prevent any Joker-esque smearing after a couple of glasses of cheap Prosecco, though, make sure the product is long-lasting. This Lord and Berry 20100 lipstick crayon* applies smoothly and feels moisturising but also has amazng pigmentation and lasting power. Plus what’s better than red lips at Christmas? Nothing, that’s the answer, nothing (except maybe pigs in blankets).

Party 5Glam Eyes

The rule that you should do eyes or lips goes out of the window at Christmas parties (if it ever exists at all – not in my world, friends) as it’s all about full on glamour. Lord and Berry’s Inkglam Liquid Eyeliner* provides the perfect feline flick, and this waterproof version won’t budge no matter how sweaty you get shaking your thang. The tapered tip also lets you create a really precise line with ease. Finally, no night out is complete without some false lashes. Grab some extra-dramatic ones for the Christmas season, like these Maximise double lashes from Eye Candy* – they’re perfect for fluttering at some badly-chosen colleague under the mistletoe. What? IT’S TRADITION.

These are my Christmas party make-up tips, but what are yours? Let me know in the comments!

I did not know that SPF in foundation could cause ‘ghost face’ – thanks for the tip! Those eyelashes look great. They aren’t something I normally wear but thinking of getting some for the festive season and those look really nice 🙂
