Cocktail Making at Bar Opus | Review

Bar Opus Birmingham Cocktail MakingIt’s no secret that I like the odd alcoholic beverage (or seven), and consider ‘going out for cocktails’ to be a legitimate hobby and pastime. So when I was invited along to a cocktail making masterclass at Bar Opus recently, it was a strong yes from me. Bar Opus is in Birmingham city centre, just by Snow Hill train station and so a little bit out of the way of the other bars found all over the city. It was my first time visiting the bar, and my first ever cocktail making class, so I was intrigued to see what it was all about.

Cocktail Making Class Birmingham

50ml Jim Beam Honey
25ml Monin Vanilla
1/2 Bottle Vanillalicious
Honey and honeycomb as garnish

I love milky cocktails so for me, this tasted absolutely amazing and if I hadn’t been driving then I would’ve knocked mine back in about three seconds and then stolen everyone else’s off them too (and then probably promptly vomited – I never claimed to be particularly good at drinking, alright…)

50ml Chase Elderflower
25ml Elderflower cordial
12.5ml Fresh lemon juice
Top up with Fevertree elderflower tonic

The cocktail making was broken up by a card game that saw us all having to do different challenges depending on what card we’d been given. Of course, my card resulted in the challenge ‘post an embarrassing selfie of yourself on Twitter’. Well, there’s a bloody surprise…

Everything I thought to be true is now being questioned). After the cocktail making finished, we were then all treated to afternoon tea, which was just GORGEOUS.

My first cocktail masterclass experience was definitely a good one, and I think it would be great for someone’s birthday, a hen do or just a fun afternoon out with the girls. At Bar Opus, the cocktail making class is only £15 per person, which I think is fab for an hour session and the two cocktails you get included too. The prices for afternoon tea also start at £15 per person for the traditional version, and a couple of quid more for the more boozy options.

A huge thank you to the staff at Bar Opus for being so welcoming and helpful during our class!

Have you ever tried a cocktail making class, or would you like to? Let me know in the comments!
