Collection #FaceTheDay Palette | Review

Collection #FaceTheDay Palette Collection #FaceTheDay Palette Blog ReviewHola mi chico latinos! It’s been a while since I just picked up some makeup on a whim, preferring these days to do my research and know I really want a product before handing over my hard-earned cash. However, on a recent trip to Boots, Collection’s new #FaceTheDay face palette caught my eye. As it was so pretty and also on special offer for only £3.99 or something ridiculous, I decided to give it a go. That’s just the kind of wild, spontaneous, big spender that I am okay – don’t try to hold me back.

#FaceTheDay contains a matte bronzer, a shimmery blusher, a highlighter and four shimmery neutral eyeshadows. With all of these products in one palette and sturdy cardboard packaging, it’s definitely the perfect on-the-go product (though I do personally think they missed a trick not putting a mirror in the lid, JUST SAYIN’).  So it looks like it ticks a lot of boxes, but I was intrigued to see what the quality was actually like.

#FaceTheDay PaletteCollection #FaceTheDay Palette | SwatchesI’ll get the less positive points out of the way first – one, I don’t think anyone is going to be particularly blown away the pigmentation. The colour payoff isn’t bad by any means, but some of the powders – particularly the lighter eyeshadows – are a bit nondescript. The highlighter is also very finely milled and creates a subtle shimmer, as you can see on the swatch to the left of the bronze above. Personally I quite like this for more natural makeup days, but people who are looking for a highlighter that packs a bit more dazzle might be disappointed. Secondly, the bronzer is  bit orangey, whereas a lot of people prefer more a cool-toned bronze for contouring. I don’t think that girls with paler complexions would get on particularly well with this shade, but those with warmer tones will probably find it does the job fine.

Generally though, I’m pretty impressed with this affordable little beauty. The darker eyeshadows are really nice and easy to work with (even for an eyeshadow novice/idiot like me) and the fine texture means you don’t experience any fallout. The pans are also a decent size, and I love that the highlighter is actually the biggest. As mentioned, I really like the light sheen the highlighter gives, and that it’s not too shimmery. Overall, the palette is so versatile that I’ve been reaching for it most days since I got it and even at its full RRP of £6.99 it’s such a bargain. It is still on sale on Boots online here though, so if you like the look of it then strike while the iron is cheap and so on and so forth. Here’s a little look at the palette on – #ThatHighlightDoe:

I don’t have any Collection makeup because it seems too cheap to be any good. I would much rather fork out on something more expensive. However, this palette does look quite pretty (and it’s a good price). I really like the look of the highlight on your cheek bones! I am very pale so I don’t think the bronzer would be ideal. Looks like it suits you well. A good bargain and a lovely post!

I’ve become a bit more into high end makeup too lately, but I think it’s always worth trying more affordable pieces like this as there are some real hidden gems around 🙂 xx

I really enjoyed reading this and I’ve been tempted by this palette recently as it’s such a bargain! The thing that put me off was the orange-ness of the bronzer, it’s such a shame they didn’t bring out a cool and warm version as that would just be much too oompa loompa on me 🙁

I agree, bringing out another shade option would just solve all of our problems! Even with that though, it’s still such a good price for everything else xx

I have this and I really like it, despite the pigmentation. It’s perfect for every day 😉

I think the highlighter alone is worth the price, £3.99 is great for a full palette like this! 🙂
