LOreal Infallible Foundation Review

It’s not often that I really hate a product, especially one that bloggers and friends rave about. Even if it’s something that doesn’t quite work for me, the fact that so many people love it makes me think that I love it too.

Unfortunately, when it comes to the LOreal Infallible foundation, no amount of blogger love will make me feel anything other than disappointment, sadness and ultimately, a whole lot of hatred.

I’ve read so many great reviews of this new-ish foundation, so like any normal person, decided that you can never have too many foundations and thought I would give it a whirl. Turns out, you can definitely have too many foundations.

Retailing at £9.99, LOreal Infallible is on the cheaper end of foundations, which is never usually a problem for me. My standard everyday foundation is Rimmel’s Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation, which is super cheap and one that I really love. Unfortunately for LOreal, you can feel the cheapness with every push of its stupid square pump. It genuinely looks and feels like oil paint putting it on, and – I’m going to go there – I think it is the worst foundation I have ever used.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m the type of girl who likes a lot of makeup. In fact, if someone described a foundation as paint-like, I would most likely be completely on board with that. However, this foundation manages to be oily and chalky at the same time. It’s impossible to blend, and seems to just ‘sit’ on top of the skin, like it is too good to make mates with it and help you look like a normal person.

You might be thinking “ah, but the coverage must be good, right?”. No. You are wrong. The coverage was bloody useless – patchy, oily and, once I had tried to limit the damage with a bit of face powder, a bit peely. I looked like I had a skin disease (which, incidentally I do, just not on my face), and it’s hard enough making my face look less troll-like, without a patchy mask of shit on it.

And it didn’t even last. It was completely fallable. It started falling off my face pretty much the moment I left the house, which in hindsight was probably for the best.

I actually really love this stuff, it seems to work for me anyway – but your review really made me laugh! Peely, skin-disease-looking is not a good look… and I do agree with you on the stupid square pump!

Hahaha, I’m starting to think it’s just my skin. I’ve seen so many people get on with it, but it just looked bloody awful on me. xxx

Hahaha, I really hate it! I think that’s my problem as well – I have quite oily skin and it just didn’t work xx

Hey Lauren, L’oreal do two foundations in this range, one for dry skin (this one) and one in a tube for oily skin called Infallible Matte Foundation. Maybe you’d be more suited to the foundation for oilier skin?

Oh really?? I didn’t realise that! I definitely think I would have got on better with the Matte one rather than this one xxx

This sounds awful! There is nothing I dislike more than foundation that is patchy, will be giving this one a miss. Lovely review though 🙂

I’ve tried this foundation and I LOVED it for the first 10 minutes… It went on ok using my RT Miracle Complexion Sponge and seemed like a nice medium to full coverage base! And THEN… It turned orange. And I mean BRIGHT orange- think satsuma, and it was there, so oxidizing is a huge issue firstly. Then it started to go blotchy, even my contour which never looks blotchy or caked on looked wounded and that’s saying something! Your review sounded exactly like what I thought and everyone should run for the hills! True Match is such an amazing foundation, as is Lumi Magique, and it’s just a shame this doesn’t match up!

Love your blog btw, we should totally collab some time! <3 xx

This actually is one of my favourite foundation… I have combination/oily skin but i don’t like totally matte foundation i find the finish of this is quite flattering. And my skin is really quite yellow undertone and quite light but definitely not fair or tanned. Vanilla is the perfect shade for me It really surprises me as drugstore foundations they don’t have many foundations with yellow undertone. The new ones do not have any shade that match my skin and i found them sink into my pore… so i find foundation is quite personal thing. really.
