New Year, New Products | January Beauty Haul

January Beauty Blog HaulI’m really not one for the ‘new year, new me’ thing – but new me, new beauty products? That’s something I can deffo get on board with. I’ve added a few new products to my cosmetics bag over the last week or so, and am looking forward to giving them a proper whirl during January. If that won’t get me through the January blues, then what will?

YSL Babydoll Mascara BlogFirst up, my Bourjois Twist Up the Volume mascara had officially dried out and I was basically just  poking at my eye with a crusty old stick every morning. Glamorous. I decided to replace it after Christmas with YSL Babydoll Mascara because I’d wanted it for ages and I was feeling WILD. After just a few applications, I can confirm it was well worth my months of lusting (and the slightly painful £25 price tag) – I’ll have a full review of this coming A$AP Rocky, so keep your eyes peeled if you’re interested.

Beauty Haul January 2016Another day, another crushing need for a MAC nude lipstick. ‘Blankety’ had been on my wishlist for a while, and it lives up to all of my expectations. It’s a pink-nude with an Amplified Creme finish, meaning it applies like an absolute dream and is perfect for everyday wear.  I also decided to finally try out Estee Lauder’s Double Wear once my foundation ran out this weel (why does everything run out at the same time? Why why WHY?) I’ve heard SO much about Double Wear over the last couple of years, so I’m looking forward to seeing whether it lives up to the hype.

Soap and Glory HaulSoap and Glory were one of my favourite brands of 2015, so of course I’m beyond happy to have a few new products to try out in the new year. My friend Steph got me a few cute Soap and Glory bits as part of my Secret Santa present this year, including this Flake Away Body Polish. I’ve used this once so far and love it – S&G scrubs always manage to be pretty tough without being scratchy or unpleasant to use. I was also sent a little bundle of goodies from the brand recently, and one of my favourites is the Original Pink Fragrance Mist*. I raved about the Sugar Crush Fragrance Mist in my August Favourites last year, and I love this sweet rose-scented one just as much. I think these only retail at around a tenner, and so they’re perfect for carrying in your bag with you.

I was also kindly send the Lord and Berry 2 Phases Makeup Remover* to try out, and on first impressions I’m already a big fan of this. I need to get back into a proper double-cleansing routine this month as I admit I got a bit slack towards the end of December, and this will definitely do the job. As well as removing makeup, the various ingredients such as Argan Oil, Rice Bran Oil and Chamomile Extract also help to sooth skin and prevent ageing.

NIp + Fab HaulFinally, I popped into Superdrug for a little MUA browsing, and saw this Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Giftset in the sale for only £8. The cleanser alone usually costs the same amount, so I couldn’t pass up the chance to try them out. Is triple cleansing a thing, or..?

Have you tried any of these products before? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you for these tips! That lipstick looks gorgeous – I’ll have to take a look at that in the stores! Otherwise I’m in that awful situation of being out of foundation and coming home from a vacation, will I be the shade that fits me now and not next week or will I paint myself pale when I’m finally not? Haha! Happy 2016! xx

Oh no, that’s such a nightmare situation! I suppose the answer is to get both? 😉 xx

Everything runs out at the same time, and if it is around Christmas and you are broke from buying presents already it is such a struggle!
Of the above mentioned I haven’t tried anything yet, but the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation has been on my list for a while. I only used the matching concealer which is okay, but not awesome.

EXACTLY, glad you know the struggle! Hmm interesting, I’ve never really tried a high end concealer to be honest, tend to rely on the foundation to do all the hard work! I’ll have a review coming soon 🙂 xx

YSL Babydoll lash is on of my favourites! However I found it dried up quite quickly!

    • Claire January 5, 2016 / 7:57 pm

I’m loving it so far but it’ll be a shame if that happens – it’s way too pricey to replace often! I found that with Benefit’s They’re Real too though, such a bummerrrrr xx

    • Claire January 5, 2016 / 7:58 pm

Thank you! Let me know how you get on with it if you do 🙂 xx

  9. Jasmine January 4, 2016 / 7:55 pm

I’ve been curious about YSL’s baby doll mascara, if I wasn’t totally obsessed (and embarrassingly loyal to) Lancome’s Hypnose Mascara, I’d definitely give this one a go 🙂

That Double Wear foundation is one that I hear soooo many things about! I wanna try it but the price tag scares me.
I really also want to try anything by Soap & Glory. I got a few new beauty products for the new year and I’m excited to play around with them.

It really is pricey, I remember when I would never spend more than £8 on foundation and now I’m throwing £30+ at it..! xx

    • Claire January 7, 2016 / 7:19 pm

It’s honestly very nice indeed, looking forward to writing my review on it 🙂 xx

    • Claire January 7, 2016 / 7:22 pm

Definitely, so good when you don’t want to use up your pricey stuff for work etc! xx

I had been after it for ages too, and it’s definitely worth treating yourself 🙂 xx

  15. Madalyn January 9, 2016 / 7:04 pm

I tried with the Estée Lauder DW (Really tried as I bought 2 shades!) but although yes it does last I found it quite chalky and patchy, plus it settled in my (many) wrinkles and crevices. Best FC one for me is a real cheapo, 17 Stay time 25 hour foundation

    • Claire January 10, 2016 / 7:08 pm

Oh god yes I LOVE Stay Time – forgot all about it actually! Definitely need to stock up again soon xx

  16. Lauren Victoria January 10, 2016 / 12:30 pm

I agree with you, why does every product seem to run out at the same time? haha! I love the look of all these products you have mentioned. The YSL mascara look’s so chic! I got the Soap and Glory Original Pink Mist for Christmas x
