I’m the sort of girl that lets my roots grow practically to my ears and regularly ends up wearing bikini bottoms underneath my work clothes because I haven’t done any washing for 3 weeks. BUT one thing I really make sure I keep on top of most of the time is freshly done nails. This means that I’m always on the lookout for new shades, so when Seventeen sent us a few of their new Gel Colour nail polishes* I was SO excited to give these summery colours a try.
Although Seventeen is one of my favourite drugstore brands, I don’t think I’ve actually tried any of their nail range before. I think this is because I’ve generally stayed loyal to another high street brand (not naming any names… but it rhymes with Harry Hem) when it comes to nail polishes, but the quality of these Seventeen ones is so good that I think my loyalties could shift. The brush is very thick and wide, so the polish coats the nails quickly and easily. The formula also seems to dry really quickly, though I’m not sure whether this is more down to the surface I paint on (ie stick-on stiletto nails).
Here’s a closer peek at the shades I received…
Of course, my favourite is White Lady, simply because I’m a sucker for white and nude nails. The Mint Cooler is a close second though, especially while we’re still enjoying some relatively nice weather.
All of the polishes are so thick that they were practically opaque with one coat. I applied two on each to be sure , and the result was a stunning, glossy finish. I’ve so far only worn White Lady on my nails, and can’t really comment on the lasting power because most polishes tend to last well on my false nails, but Seventeen claim up to eight days wear with these polishes. There are 30 Gel Colours available (so definitely giving Harry Hem a run for his money in terms of choice), and they all cost just £3.99. You can buy them from Boots either in store or online here.
Have any of you tried the Gel Colours? What do you think?
