Spring 2017 Fashion Faves

Spring Fashion Collage 2

It might not have seemed like it yesterday when I practically had to wade my way into work (RIP open-toed shoes), but SPRING HAS SPRUNG. Jack Wills recently created a guide around How to Style A Trench Coat and it got me thinking about Spring fashion, and the pieces I’m personally wearing a lot this season. As the ultimate transitional piece, the trench coat is obv one of those iconic Spring staples – and I think it’s important to have a couple of these in your wardrobe each season. But just as important are the fun, on-trend items that you might only wear for a couple of months but help update your outfits (and give us something to hopefully look back at cringe at when we’re older). I think I’ve got a healthy mix of both in my wardrobe at the moment, and here are some of my absolute faves…

Spring Classic: The Denim Jacket

Similar to the trench coat, a denim jacket is PERFECT for annoying British in-betweeny weather – also, something about blue denim instantly screams spring/summer doesn’t it? A couple of months ago I bought myself this oversized denim jacket from Boohoo and I kid you not, I’ve worn it nearly every day. For a little twist on a classic, I’m thinking of picking one up in a dusky pink. Will I look cool, or like a massive marshmallow? Stay tuned to find out.

Spring Trend: Oversized Sleeves

This just in: size matters. In the sleeve department, obviously. Flute sleeves are everywhere at the moment, and it’s a trend I’m fully on board with. They instantly jazz up an otherwise pretty boring top, plus they’re a great place to hide snacks (just kidding… or am I? Rustle rustle).

Spring Classic: Florals

Say it with me: “Florals for Spring? Groundbreaking” (if you don’t get this quote then I am very sorry but I must ban you from my blog, and my life. Goodbye forever). The thing is, as obvious as it might be, I bloody love a floral print. Luckily, this season it’s easy to incorporate floral into your wardrobe without being too cliche thanks to the wonder that is the embroidery trend, which has stuck around for another season. This top came from New Look and cost about £20, but I’ve since discovered some amazing mesh embroidery tops on eBay for only around the £5 mark – I’ve bought this one and this one and can confirm they’re both uh-mazing.

Spring Trend: Mom Jeans

I know I’m so, so, so late hopping on board this bandwagon, but please bear in mind that as a 5’2 ridiculously ill-proportioned pear shape, I have STRUGGLED when it came to finding a flattering pair of mom jeans. I finally found this pair of petite mom jeans on Asos and while they’re not exactly flattering, I do like them an awful lot. So far I’ve mainly worn them dressed down with skater shoes and bodysuits, but I’m going to experiment with dressing them up with heels and er, a more revealing bodysuit (I never experiment THAT much, okay…)

These are my favourite fashion pieces at the moment, but what are yours? Let me know in the comments, and don’t forget that if you are looking for a women’s trench coat then Jack Will is the place to go!

This post was written in collaboration with – you guessed it – Jack Wills! But all opinions, cringey mirror snaps and jokes about snacks are my own (OR WAS IT A JOKE?!)

Absolutely adore embroidery and jeans jackets this spring. Spring, in general, is my favourite season for clothing. So many fun and quirky things to try out x
