Urban Decay Naked Skin Bronzing Beauty Balm | Review

UD 1

UD 2 UD 3So a couple of weeks ago I was browsing the internet, minding my own business, when BAM, it hit me right between the eyes: a 50% off sale at Feel Unique. Well, what was a girl to do? I’m sure you all understand how helpless I was to resist this, and so I absolutely can’t be held responsible for the money spent. Agreed? Good.

One thing I picked up was this Urban Decay Naked Skin Bronzing Beauty Balm. The RRP of this is £23.50, so it was an utter steal at half price. With the coverage of a BB cream, a SPF of 20 and the promise of a bronzed glow, I decided it would be perfect for my upcoming holiday. And I was SO right.

This stuff is an absolute dream. It’s quite sheer once applied, allowing your own skin to show through, but it also gives the most amazing wash of colour. This is ideal for me because I’m one of those weirdos who hardly ever fake tans my face (pore paranoia, what can I say), so I can apply this to sort out my white-face-orange-body issues and generally make my skin look about 10 x healthier. Although coverage is very light, when paired with a bit of concealer this does actually cover most of my blemishes up.

UD 5UD 6 UD 7The Urban Decay Naked Skin Bronzing Beauty Balm promises to do 5 things:

  • Hydrate; instantly and also over time, this aims to improve the hydration of your skin
  • Prime; you can use this underneath foundation to help it stay put
  • Protect; this contains SPF 25 and also an ingredient that allegedly helps to guard skin against daily stress
  • Perfect; by instantly smooth out lines and minimising pores
  • Treat; within 8 weeks, this should help your skin look firmer and younger

The last one is a very bold claim indeed, and I can’t confirm whether it delivers on this promise as a) I haven’t been using it for 8 weeks, 2) I’ve got some pretty awesome other skincare on the go right now so wouldn’t be able to attribute anything to this and 3) I really have no idea how firm or saggy my skin looks to begin with. HOWEVER, regarding the other 4 claims, I’m happy to say that this delivers. I’m currently wearing it more or less every day, be it on its own to the gym (don’t judge me) or underneath my foundation, and I really do love it. It feels velvety smooth on the skin and just makes me look like the uber-tanned California girl I always wished I was.

Whether or not I’ll repurchase it at full price remains to be seen – I mean I like it, but girl’s got bills to pay, y’know? While this discounted tube lasts, though, I’ll be cherishing it and thanking the Lord for that Feel Unique sale.

Have any of you tried the Urban Decay Naked Skin Bronzing Beauty Balm? What did you think of it? Let us know in the comments!

I got a few samples of this from a huge UD haul I did a few weeks back, but I never paid too much attention to it. I must try it now given you love it so much 🙂

I’m surprised at all the positive reviews this product has been getting! I normally think products like this with all the claims are gimmicky, but this one might be worth trying out! And what a great deal you got!

I know what you mean! As I said I’m not sure of the firming benefits yet, but even if that never happens then I’m more than happy with this as it is 🙂 xx

I love Urban Decay but I haven’t really heard much about this product, which is a shame as it sounds amazing. I am definitely going to give this a go.

I almost picked up the mini of this for on holiday but resisted! Maybe I will give it a go as I don’t think the current weather is going to be giving me much of a glow any time soon 🙁 xx
