Vichy DermaBlend Fluid Corrective Foundation | Review

Vichy DermaBlend Fluid Corrective Foundation | Review Maybe this says quite a lot about my beige personality, but foundation is actually my favourite makeup product. Yes I know that a world of wonderful colour awaits me with eyeshadow and lipsticks and I can use contour products to give myself an entirely new face – and don’t get me wrong, I LOVE all of them too – but a good base is honestly the thing that makes me feel the most confident, so a new foundation is always of interest. For the past couple of months I’ve been putting Vichy’s DermaBlend Fluid Corrective Foundation* to the test, and I’m happy to finally report back what I think.

Before trying this out, I primarily thought of Vichy as a premium skincare brand, though I also knew they did high-coverage bases that are meant to be grrrrrr-eat for people with skin complaints such as acne. I was really excited to give it a try, as although my skin’s okay I still like a full coverage.

After matching myself on my trusty Findation, I got the Vichy DermaBlend in shade 15, Opal. My first impressions when it arrived were that although the packaging wasn’t very luxe (I suppose we’ve all been spoilt by frosted glass bottles that don’t even come with a pump), it was still sleek and I at least knew that I’d be able to get every last dribble of foundation out. And I’m a girl that likes the most dribble for her money.

I apply DermaBlend with my fingers and then blend in with my blending sponge. And let me assure you, the finish of this foundation is FLAWLESS. I can always spot a really good foundation by how well it covers my nose, which is easily the most uneven, red, pore-ridden, absolutely bloody nightmare bit of skin on my face. This covers it all, but still magically manages to look quite light. From my experience, cakey is a word I’d never use to describe Vichy DermaBlend.

Of course man cannot live on bread alone, and a woman’s face can not look on fleek with foundation alone. When it comes to applying my usual other products – concealer, bronzer, highlighter, the tears of men, etc – I did run into one slight hitch. Powder products – fine. Liquid products – fine. But cream products do not seem to work well with Vichy DermaBlend. I found this especially when I tried using my Sleek Cream Contour Kit (review here if you’re interested); the creams from that palette seemed to lift the DermaBlend off when I tried to blend them. It might just be that the cream products in that particular palette are quite thick, but it’s something that worth bearing in mind if you use those sorts of products.

Other than that though, I really do love this foundation. Leaving the best fact til last, it’s now time to tell you the price: this costs just £12 from most retailers. This really surprised me, firstly because of its status as being a premium brand and secondly because it’s just honestly so frigging good. I therefore fully recommend this to people who want to up their foundation game without spending the £30+ pounds on other high-end brands. If you’ve only ever been used to high street foundations, then I honestly think this will blow you away. You can buy it online via DermaBlend here, and it’s also available from the usual suspects of Feel Unique and Look Fantastic.

Have any of you tried the Vichy DermaBlend Fluid Corrective Foundation, or would you like to? Let me know in the comments!

How interesting foundation is your favourite makeup product!; though I can kind of understand why, as foundation (and sometimes concealer) can create the biggest transformation! It’s great to hear this covers your nose well as that is my troublesome area as well haha! 🙂

Foundation/Base is my favorite part of doing makeup as well. I just love the feeling of achieving a clean slate. I thought Vichy’s just for skincare, that’s actually why I got piqued by your post. Glad to hear their makeup products are as great as their skincare selections.

I am waiting to get a little bit of tan so I can test it properly. I got the wrong shade and it doesn’t look right at the moment. I never tried it with cream products, I will probably avoid it. I love the high coverage of it, it leaves me skin flawless!

Will DEFINITELY be having to try this.. especially as I’ve been thinking long and hard about buying the YSL Touche Eclat foundation which is just so painfully expensive. This one is going to be tried first I think!
