Christmas 2014 Partywear Wishlist

Right, so before any of you Christmas-haters get on me like an angry rat on a soggy biscuit, I know it’s only the middle of November. In theory, I know it’s far too early to be whacking out the Mariah and thinking about mince pies. But at the same time, my work Christmas party is 3 weeks away, advent calendar season is just round the corner and DAMN IT, I really just like Christmas dresses.

So while this wishlist might be a little premature, hopefully you will all join with me in lusting over sequins, velvet, feathers and fur. There are SO many amazing Christmas party dresses and party bits (ooo-er) around, that I am seriously considering buying it all and then declaring myself bankrupt (after mysteriously hiding the clothes and creating a treasure map for Claire). I have already bought one dress, so clearly I have a problem. Don’t make me buy two, world.

So, without further ado, here are some of my favourites.

Mermaid Bodycon Dress | Silver Wrap Dress | Cream Feather Bustier Dress

I wish I had more occasions to go to. I really need that blue mermaid dress in my life, it’s possibly the greatest thing that I have ever laid my eyeballs on. I will die happy, knowing that I have seen a dress this beautiful. I’m also keen for the sheer lacey midi dress, which is super sassy.

What’s on your Christmas partywear wishlist this year? I think I have finally outgrown the Christmas jumper, and all I want to do is wear things that are sparkly, feathery, sequiny and preferable in any form of Christmas colour. WHO’S WITH ME?

If I Was A Rich Girl: Beauty Wishlist

After a bit of a shopping splurge on my birthday, I’ve actually been very well behaved recently in terms of spending. However, slowly but surely, little must-haves have started to creep their way into my mind. Here’s what’s on my mind this week…

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

I have to confess, for years I’ve never really cared about skincare. However, I suppose because I’m now old – like properly old, like ‘I bought a slow cooker and this bar is too loud’ old – I’m suddenly obsessed with it and want to start investing in good skincare that doesn’t just come from the pound shop.

One product I’m currently craving is the extremely popular Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I first read about this over at The Little Magpie (one of my all-time favey bloggers, FYI) and have since done lots of research, all of which has blown me away. Basically, this is a magic potion that casts a spell on your skin to make you not ugly anymore. That’s the gist I get, anyway. At £36, however, it’s going to take a while for my pound shop loving brain to convince my body to hand the money over.

Kylie Jenner’s lips

Obviously I don’t mean this in a creepy Leatherface-esque way; rather, I want to achieve that crazily voluptuous effect that has got the world digging lip liner again. For a while there was speculation that the youngest Jenner sister had had her lips filled, but people quickly realised her mega pout was simply due to makeup trickery. In a lot of pictures you can actually see her natural lip line, so I’m not sure why people are still speculating, but all I’m interested in in how I too can achieve this. I’ve just bought a lipliner and matching lipstick shade so that I can try it out for myself – expect a report back soon, which may or may not involve me saying I looked like a big clown.

IMG_0003.JPGDreamweave Mascara

Mascaras were traditionally one of my favourite makeup products to try out, but since getting my Hollywood lash extensions regularly (which you can read about here), mascara’s taken a back seat as I rarely use it. If I was to buy a new one though, then without doubt it would be a Dreamweave one. This is hailed as being ‘eyelash extensions in a tube’ and supposedly lasts up to three days (though I don’t know why you’d need it to – just go to bed for heaven’s sake). This retails for around £14 from various stockists, making it a reasonable mid-priced mascara.

Has anyone tried any of the above products/techniques? If so, let me know below!

What to Wear to Work… Wishlist 2014

I recently announced on this little blog that I have landed myself a snazzy new job. As we all know, a new job always means that you need a whole new wardrobe – I mean, I’ve sometimes used a new toothbrush as an excuse for a celebratory new jumper, so of course a brand new role and office and desk demand new clothes to go along with them. My new job also has a slightly stricter dress code than my old one, so it’s goodbye to ripped jeans, crop tops and leather shorts and HELLO to official workwear (probably for the best where the shorts are concerned). I’ve already started picking up some new bits for my new grown-up ‘drobe, but here are other things currently on my wishlist…

Workwear

Sleeveless Wrap Blouse / Dogtooth Shorts / Leather Panel Tunic / Grey Tote Bag / Floral Cigarette Trousers / Sandals

Workwear Two

Leather Satchel / Check Shell Top / Peg Leg Trousers / Pleated Culottes / Tassel Mule Loafers

Workwear Three

Burgundy Cropped Blazer / Burgundy Scallop Shorts / White Floral Midi Skirt / Grey Crepe Blazer / Cut Out Brogues / Check Brushed Mini Skirt

River Island is KILLIN’ IT lately, and I love the range of rich patterns and mixed fabrics in their work collection, meaning that outfits can still be eyecatching. Topshop have a lot of smart tailored pieces in, with looser fits adding a very cool edge to what would otherwise be classic pieces. And finally, there are heaps of pleasant surprises to be found in the New Look workwear section, with some really cutesy co-ords and blazers in an array of colours.

Now that I’ve actually turned me attention to it, I’m surprised I was never more into workwear before as there are some really beaut pieces around. What do you all think of workwear, and which places do you recommend?

The 8-Piece Winter Wardrobe: Missguided A/W Wishlist

Today I’m sporting a vampy purple lip, the view from my office window is dismal at best, and my only plans for the weekend involve watching X Factor… oh yes, autumn is truly here. Which is actually a good thing, because it means that I get to force another batch of A/W14 goodies on you (go back and read my River Island collection review NOW) (…please). Today it’s the turn of Missguided, who, if you’ve read our blog for a while, you’ll know we love a ridiculous amount. Their latest drop is nothing short of amazing, and I’ve picked my favourite pieces from the collection. With a mix of monochrome knitwear, winter florals and versatile co-ords, there’s plenty of room for mixing and matching. I therefore think picking up just these 8 pieces could create a complete wardrobe re-vamp for the new season. A bold claim I know. But just LOOK…

Missguided AW 1Fluffy Cropped Jumper and Fluffy Skirt : £14.99 each / Grid Jumper: £17.99

Missguided AW 2Print Playsuit: £24.99 / Maxi Overlay Playsuit: £34.99

Missguided AW 3Cropped Ribbed Turtleneck: £17.99 / Floral Cigarette Trousers: £19.99

Missguided AW 4Aztec Trousers: £19.99 and Aztec Crop: £14.99 / Camel Coat: £39.99

What do you all think of the AW14 collection? Are you convinced my capsule wardrobe claims? Let us know in the comments below!

Currently Watching: eBay Wishlist #6

eBay Wishlist SummerFloral Trousers / Cleated Sole PlatformRose Print Kimono/ Studded Bumbag/Mesh Swimsuit / Palm Print Bralet

Hey hey everybody, it’s Cleopatra, coming atcha. Not really, just Claire again (sorry). I realised we haven’t done an eBay wishlist for months and knew that this had to be rectified as I have loads of fit bits in my watching list at the moment, and it would frankly be cruel to not share them with you. Once I’d gathered them all together I realised this is a very summery wishlist, so if you still have a festival or holiday to go to this year then I’mma hook you up.

The trousers and kimono are both from the same overseas seller, and they have SO many nice things. The prices are frankly ridiculous – the kimono, for example, is £4.26. Yes, four pounds and twenty-six pence! With prices like that, it’s definitely worth the wait of a couple weeks for delivery  – and whatever I’ve had from Chinese sellers so far has always been good quality. Accessories-wise, I’m loving these white cleated sole platforms (obviously – who isn’t?!) and the studded bumbag was one that I wanted for Wireless festival a few weeks ago (but I accidentally spent all of my money on houmous before the weekend so couldn’t afford it, sob). I’m off on holiday in FOUR DAYS so it’s a little late for me to order this mesh insert swimsuit but I think it’s absolutely beautiful, and it would also be super flattering for those not quite brave enough to fully flash their stomach. And finally we have the palm print bralet, which is so perfect for summer it almost causes a tear to come to my eye.

What do you all think of this eBay wishlist?

Guest Post: Pick of the Pastels

Hi guys, I’m Estelle and I blog over at Let Me Go Xo. When I saw that Lauren and Claire (although it’s just Claire as Lauren as loving life in SA) were looking for guest bloggers I jumped at the chance. How does it feel being on Stylingo? All of my dreams have come true.

Pastels Let Me GoIt is no secret that I am a pastel lover so I decided to do my ‘Pick Of The Pastels’ where I show you guys some of my favourite pastel clothes out there right now.

I’ve been loving skorts recently and a skort in coral? Yes please. But first lemme take a selfie, I have a pure hatred for that song but I have a pure love for this jumper. Jumpsuits are so in right now, they’re perfect for holiday and this mint colour is so pretty, I also love the slight shine to the jumpsuit. If you’re a regular reader of my blog then you’ll know I have a *slight* obsession for shift dresses and this mint dress is no exception to my obsession. Try saying that quickly. When I think pastels, I think Missguided, this box top is so pretty as is the bralet. Now for my new favourite shop: Oh My Love. Everything on their site is to die for, the powder blue maxi dress is absolutley precious and the peach dress is, infact, perfection.

Thanks to Claire (and Lauren) for having me on their blog! What is your favourite item from this list?

South Africa: My Holiday Wishlist

Something very exciting but slightly alarming is happening in approximately 2 weeks. I’m flying out to South Africa for 2 and a bit weeks, ready to hit the beaches, hit the braais and potentially hit myself in the head when I forget to put suncream on.

For those of you who don’t know, I was born in South Africa and lived there until I was 11. I still have lots of lovely family out there, so I’m as excited to see them as I am to see some elephants. As I was lucky enough to get quite a bit of time off work, I’ll be taking this route here:

MapStarting off in Johannesburg, I’m flying to Port Elizabeth where I have lots of friends and family. After that, I’ll be driving to East London where my grandma lives and after that I’ll be driving to Cape Town, with a little stop in Knysna. Safe to say, it’s going to be absolutely knackering but also HUGELY amazing. I’m super looking forward to it.

What I am not looking forward to, is bloody holiday shopping. Partly because I can’t stop eating cake at the moment, and partly because I actually haven’t done anything yet. I know. I leave in 2 weeks and I haven’t got a pretty sundress to my name. Help.

I’m off to the shops tomorrow to pick up a few bits and bobs, so I thought I’d put together a little wish list of things I want. HOWEVER. I desperately need your opinions before tomorrow (everyone loves a deadline) so I don’t end up looking like a lunatic when I see my long lost family.

PRIMARK COLLAGEAll from Primark’s SS14 Collection (check it out on Instyle here)
