Outfit of the Day: Vague Crop Tee

OOTD 24th May COllage 2
Crop top: eBay / Leather look leggings: River Island (old) / Chain: eBay / Bag: Primark

Good afternoon, ladies and gents!

Now this look is what I call ‘hoochie chic’ (no, I’m not really sure where the chic bit comes in either) and features my new crop top which I picked up from eBay this week. I may have explained before that despite liking slogan tees, I am quite fussy about what said slogan says. I don’t like t-shirts that say anything about partying – because I’m clearly not a party when I’m filling my car with petrol at 9am on a Sunday – or love, or dreams, or anything remotely shit like that. This, though, I like. I also like the loose fit and rolled sleeves. Top marks all round, eBay, top marks!

Sunglasses: Primark / Shoes: Garage Shoes

I am also in love, yes LOVE, with my new shoes. I went on a search high and low for these babies, after seeing similar ones either sold out everywhere online or versions that were not quite right (ie a lot have white tops but black heels whereas I was after the full white). I finally chanced upon these on Garage Shoes, which I hadn’t visited before but definitely recommend for some cheap and cheerful new foot friends. I’m aware that sounds a bit like a club that foot fetishists might join. That is not what I mean.  ANYWHO, these only cost £30 and literally make me so happy I could do a little cry. Whether or not they survive a night out in Birmingham tonight is fully another matter. Alas, we shall see.

Outfit of the Day: Primark Mint Skater Skirt & White Platforms

TRIPPY

MEOW

MEWO

Hi huns,

This is a super quick OOTD for you all. I am working from home today, waiting for the landlord to come and check up on our humble little abode. Thankfully, she came about 2 minutes ago, which is lucky because I have been desperate to lurk out to get some food. I am wasting away (….).

I bought this Primark skirt for my holiday to South Africa, and safe to say I absolutely love it. It’s got embossed what I suppose are polka dots (not gross ones though) and is the most beautiful mint green colour. It’s also made in panels, meaning it’s not just a regular skater shape, which is nice.

I wore this lovely skirt with my rip off Celine tshirt (that I got at the Clothes Show). If you can’t see, it says ‘Feline MEOW’ which isn’t really normal behaviour. I quite like it though, even if it is a bit embarrassing.

House of Fraser also sent me some absolutely beautiful bracelets, which I love with the fiery passion of a girl who likes bracelets. Cheers HOF, you babes. You can buy the bracelets here and here.

On my feet, I have my New Look white chunky platforms, and on my lips I have a Makeup Revolution lippy. Read Claire’s review of them, they are great and cost £1. Pardon. My holographic clutch bag is from Primarj – around £8 I believe.

Now I must go and get myself some form of sustenance before I pass out on my laptop, get eaten by the neighbourhood cats and alarm Claire when she gets home from London. We don’t want a Stylingo funeral now, do we?!

What do you think of this outfit? YAY OR NAY?

Outfit of the Day: Monochrome and Mint

OOTD 4th May Collage 1Blazer: Primark / Crop Top: Topshop / Trousers: Primark / Juju Jelly Shoes: ASOS / Bag: Primark

Hello there you delightful little chimps. I hope we’re all enjoying similar levels of Sunday hungoverness and that I’m not the only one who demolished a McChicken sandwich and large fries before noon? Good good, that’s what I like to hear.

Last night before heading to the pub I asked my housemate if wearing a crop top and a blazer was ‘a bit Scary Spice’, to which she replied “Hahahaha, yeah it is” before pushing me out of the door anyway.  Mel B-esque or not though, I really like this combination of the two new items I bought yesterday (check out my haul post here if you haven’t already); it looks fresh and summery but still kept me warm enough on my drunk walk home. Reeeeesult.

OOTD 4th May Collage 2I also chose my cigarette trousers – which I bought months ago but I’ve seen in store again recently, FYI – my beloved JuJu jellies and Lauren’s fit holographic clutch bag.

Outfit of the Day: White Distressed Jeans

OOTD 26th April CollageBody: Abandon Ship Apparel / Jeans: Boohoo / Belt: Primark /Shoes: Primark / Chain: eBay (old)

Oh yes, you see right – I’ve finally jumped on the white jean bangwagon!

When I first saw white denim popping up again, I wanted to hide myself in the nearest wardrobe and not come out til at least A/W14. I haven’t braved white jeans since I was 16 and had a pair of white skinnies which, contrary to making me look cool and indie like I hoped at the time, made my hips look about 8 feet wide.

7 years later and my hips are the same, but this more relaxed fit is much more forgiving. I fell in love with this boyfriend fit distressed pair on the Boohoo website a couple of weeks ago, and finally flung them into my online basket on payday.

OOTD 26th April Collage 2I do completely love them, though there is a bit of an issue with sizing I’d say – I ordered the 8 and they’re far too baggy for me at the waist. It can be fixed with a belt as I have here, but the detailing is a really pretty rose gold (as you can see above without the belt) that I don’t really want to cover all the time so I’m debating exchanging them for the smaller size – though the thought that I could EVER be a size 6 in jeans in the real world is ludicrous, so I would definitely recommend sizing down if you buy these yourself. It’s also worth noting that I’ve rolled these up a lot, though I was expecting that being only 5’2.

This cat body is from Abandon Ship Apparel; I actually bought it way back in December at the Clothes Show but haven’t worn it too much as I always saw it as more of a summer item. Because er, that’s when the Satanic kittens are known to come out to play? They don’t seem to sell the body on their website anymore but you can pick up this equally fetching pair of kitten leggings if you so wish.

What do you all think of this outfit? Have you jumped on the white jeans trend yet?

Primark PS Love Lip Gloss Crayon | Review

PS Lip Crayon 1Regularly readers probably know by now that I adore Primark with a fierce love – similar to the love that lionesses have for their cubs, but a bit less bitey. I’ve already dabbled with their new-ish range of cosmetics, PS Love and recently reviewed their Volumising Ultra Black Mascara. I was actually really impressed by that product, and in fact since writing that review I’ve became even more of a fan and it’s my go-to everyday mascara at the moment.

So when I popped into Primark recently (on one of my usual ‘I only came in for some socks and have accidentally left with a shopping bag that weighs the same as a small child’ trips) I decided to pick up one or two more products. One of these was the pack of false nails which I reviewed here and the other was this here lip crayon.

PS Lip Crayon 2I opted for a nude shade because, frankly, everything is better in nude (lips, shoes, Kit Harrington…). First up I’m quite fond of the packaging – the plastic lid is a little on the cheap side, but I think the gold detailing is quite a nice touch. Plus the crayon winds up which is really handy, as sharpening is sooooo 2003 (I remember having some sort of glittery eye crayon from Barry M – no I don’t know why I thought that was a good look either – and it was literally the biggest nightmare to sharpen. Blue glitter err’where).

Then we get onto the actual application of the product. And my overall opinion can be summed up in the following noise: meeeeeeeh.

PS Lip Crayon 3The colour payoff actually looks much better on my hand than it does on the lips. To be honest, it’s barely noticeable once on. Obviously it’s a lip gloss crayon so it’s a much more sheer formula than we’re used to with a lot of other lip crayons on the market right now. And in defence of the product, it does feel smooth and glossy to apply, and leaves a sheen. However, it’s certainly not as glossy as a proper gloss (has the word ‘gloss’ started to look like a made-up word to anyone else by now?) and if I’m honest the staying power is minimal.

Overall I think this is one of those hybrid products that doesn’t quite hit the mark in either things it’s trying to achieve. I’d be intrigued to see whether the other colours in the range offer a stronger colour payoff, but won’t particularly be rushing out to buy one with my own money. I know they’re only £1.50, but I can buy like, three Greggs sausage rolls for that (maybe even four if they’ve got an offer on).

It’s rare for me to say anything bad about Primark, but even lion cubs are probably little shits sometimes.

Have any of you tried the lip gloss crayons from Primark? What do you think?

A Cheat’s Guide to Nail Art: Primark False Nails

Primark Nails 1Happy Easter err’body! I’m going to keep this one short and sweet, frankly because I have a hangover and a Sunday dinner is waiting for me (I love this blog, but I love gravy more).

While I was in Primark last week I decided to pick up a pack of their false nails to give a whirl. I usually wear clear false nails from Boots and paint over them, never attempting any sort of nail art because I’m what’s known as a ‘cackhanded idiot’ and it would just go terribly wrong. So I liked the idea of trying these out and getting an instant bit of nail art on my hand-toes.

Primark Nails 2I’m actually really impressed with these, especially considering the teeny tiny price tag. I didn’t struggle finding nails that were the right size – which is good in itself seeing as I have spade hands – and they felt sturdy once on. You get about 20 nails in the pack too, so you can easily replace ones that fall of or give yourself a completely new set. The pack also comes with glue, which was surprisingly good. The nails lasted for about four days before one or two started pinging off, at which point I got impatient and started picking at them anyway.

My only beef with the nails is that there isn’t a great choice in terms of patterns in the range. There seemed to be a few aztec ones, a neon leopard print and something weird with rabbits on (let’s hope that was an Easter novelty) – so nothing I was particularly amazed by aside from these ones. Overall though these are brilliant for people like me who will never be able to do nail art without it looking like some horrible accident has happened.

Have any of you tried the Primark false nails?

Outfit of the Day: Primark Pink & Gingham

OOTD 14th April Collage 1Today’s outfit, aside from the necklace, all comes from good ole’ Primark. Can I get a whoop whoop? Actually I’d rather you didn’t. But still, impressive nah?!

OOTD 14th April Collage 2These leggings may remind you of a certain pair of Topshop treggings I sported in this recent OOTD post. I loved those treggings, you loved those treggings… unfortunately as you can see in that post they were pretty long on me and as such I struggled to wear them with certain things. I eventually, woefully, with tears streaming down my face (on the inside anyway) returned them to Toppers and had missed them bitterly since. Which was why I was DELIGHTED to spot this lookalike pair in Primark at the weekend – for a mere £5! I think they’re technically a kind of capri pant/pedal pusher (there’s a phrase I hoped to never say again) as they looked mighty short on the hanger, but on my 5’2 legs they sit at the perfect ankle basher length I’d roll them to anyway.

The jumper was only £6 and is the perfect transitional piece being nice and thin, while my be loved ugly shoes were only £14. Oh and the necklace  was £2 in the New Look sale, making this potentially the most bargains outfit ever at £27 for the whole damn thang. More money for tequila!

Outfit of the Day: Missguided Bardot & H&M Maxi Skirt

Evening Wearaccessories Good day to you fine fellows.

I recently went to an exciting black tie event, which was even more exciting because it was a boxing event and I got to see grown men biff each other.

Unfortunately, I was in the throes of poverty at the time. In fact, I’m sure we’ve all been there – that horrible place that involves choosing between food and new clothes. Usually, new clothes would win hands down for me, but in this scenario I was forced to forgo clothes in favour of a few munchies (hunger pangs and all). Because I couldn’t buy anything new, I went for a classic combo of a top and a skirt.

I’ve had this Missguided Bardot body for a while and I can definitely say that it is an absolute staple in my little wardrobe. It’s a useful one if you just want to dress up an outfit a little bit, or if your shoulders are feeling particularly hot on occasion.

I’ve also had this H&M Maxi Skirt for eons, but it’s another brilliant one. The slit up the side makes you think ‘ooo-er aren’t I a saucy madam’ and it’s pretty useful for both daywear and night time clothes fandangos.

Put them together and you get a pretty alright outfit. That Necklace is actually from Primark and I absolutely love it. It’s such a statement piece and for £5, you really can’t go wrong. It’s surprisingly well made too, and I can see it lasting for quite a while!

Outfit of the Day: Denim Dress & Ugly Shoes

OOTD 8th April New Collage
Dress:
New Look / Shoes: Primark / Chain: eBay /

I’m not sure if it’s because our local New Look is so big that it’s sometimes a struggle to get around without having to stop for a bit of a sit down and a restorative vodka, but for a long time I just couldn’t really be bothered to shop in there. However, we’ve ventured into New Look quite a few times recently and it’s a dang good job too, as they’ve got a smorgasbord of amazing summery bits in at the mo. Yeah, a bloody smorgasbord.

One thing I picked up recently is this denim dress, which is so 90s it makes me want to erect a ladder outside my bedroom window so my mates can climb up and see me a la Clarissa Explains It All (though knowing my luck I’d just get thieves). Or gather around a campfire and tell ghost stories like I’m one of the kids in Are You Afraid Of The Dark. Or go to a mall and discover my long lost twin like in Sister Sister. Enough Nickelodeon references? Okay, moving on…

OOTD 8th April Collage 2Rings: New Look, Primark and c/o Elsie and Fred

I teamed the dress with my new ‘ugly shoes’ from Primark (see my full post on this love-it-or-hate-it trend by clicking here) and my usual lashings of tacky gold.

March Haul: New Look and Primark

Oh hey, didn’t see you there.

You might have read my holiday wishlist post the other day, and well, I may have gone a bit wild on the shopping side of things on Saturday. In fact, I should never have been let loose on the Bullring. I was like a maniac and I’m pretty sure at least one shop assistant ran away in fear.

Anywho, while I didn’t get everything on my wishlist, I did get some absolutely lovely pieces that I may or may not sleep with and/or stroke at night. In happiness. And yeah I’ll say it. Love.
