How To Customise Your Heels | ShoeLicks Review

Anyone who knows me will know that arts and crafts just ain’t my thing. Despite my best intentions and a genuine desire to be an arsty person, I’m just the biggest cackhanded idiot ever. Even things like trying to wrap a present end up in disaster (and usually with a lot of Sellotape stuck in my hair), so my dreams of ever being able to customise clothes in any way have been long dead. I was intrigued then, when ShoeLicks contacted us to see whether we would be interested in reviewing some of their jazzy heel stickers, designed to customise the bottom of your heels.

The idea for ShoeLicks was born from the designer’s urge to recreate the classic Louboutin red bottom on a budget. The concept was taken to Dragon’s Den and voila – we now have ShoeLicks, available to buy online or from River Island. Now personally, I’m not going to get away with fooling anybody into thinking that I’m rocking a pair of Loubs while frequenting the takeaways of Coventry City Centre after a night out, so I decided against the classic red stickers and instead chose these leopard print (obviously) and gold versions.

The instructions seemed clear enough: measure the sticker up against the sole of your shoe, cut it out and apply. But could it be that simple? Could I, the most uncoordinated, fumbling, two-left-handed girl in the Midlands actually manage to do this?

The simple answer is actually… yes! Here are the results of my little DIY job:
ShoeLicks 4I decided to pair the gold with a simple pair of nude court shoes, and I’m pleasantly surprised with the results. I think they add a really nice detail to the shoe while remaining subtle (and without the awkward ‘I added my own diamantes to my Converse’ vibes).  For only £2.99, they’re a really fun way to bring an old pair of heels back to life. If gold isn’t your thing, then they also stock a range of other styles, from geometric patterns to fruit prints – I think I even spied a little pug print for all your pug enthusiasts out there…

Have any of you tried ShoeLicks? Would you like to customise your heels in this way?

Okay, confession – I did have to peel one of them off and trim it again (thankfully they stuck back down again fine!) so I might not as been as much of an expert as I pretended aha xx
