According to The Beatles, all you need is love. Well, I have this to say to Paul McCartney – what about food, Paul? Water? 8 hours of sleep per night? And most importantly – NUDE LIPSTICKS? Some minor amendments to the lyrics and I could maybe get on board with that song, s’all I’m saying. In my opinion, nude lipsticks are actually the most important on that list, and I’ve mentioned before that I usually have quite a few loitering around in my handbag. My current total stands at 4, which I think is pretty restrained for me – but luckily, they’re 4 good’uns.
The lipsticks I’m carting around at the moment are all similar-ish, but true nude weirdos fans will understand why I need them all. As well as offering different shades and finishes, the 4 products also vary in price between £3 and £16, so whatever your budget I think you’ll be tempted by one of them.
First up, we have the NYX Lip Lingerie in the shade Babydoll. I reviewed the Lip Lingerie range here when they first came out, but I’ve picked this one up since then as I looooove the matte finish of these affordable £6.50 liquid lipsticks. Babydoll is a light, pinky-nude that’s about a shade lighter than Lace Detail, one of my first purchases from the range. Next is Tantalisig Taupe from the Maybelline Color Sensational range. It’s about the third time I’ve re-purchased this as it’s such a perfect everyday shade, and for about £6.99 it doesn’t break the bank. It’s got quite a glossy finish, which I find a lot more wearable than matte finishes as it never looks dry or built up.
My newest shade in the everyday collection is Chauffeur from Makeup Revolution. I picked this up on a bit of a whim, but it’s a great buy for only £3. It’s more of a brown-toned nude than the other shades, so is my choice if I want something a tad bolder (as bold as you can get with a nude anyway, HEEHEE). On the complete other end of the spectrum is the final lipstick, MAC’s Creme D’Nude. Now I’ve gone on about this for YEARS so I won’t even bore you, but this is a very NUDE nude that borders on foundation lip. Definitely not to everyone’s taste, but when layered over a lipliner (such as one of these NYX nudes) it’s such a gorgeous, glossy finish. Of course MAC are getting a touch ridiculous with it now being £16 for a lipstick, so I don’t tend to reach for this quite as much as I used to because gyal has electricity bills to pay, you know? But it’s still bae and I love it.
These are my favourite nude lipsticks for everyday wear, but what are yours? Leave me recommendations in the comments below!
