There haven’t been many moments in my life when I’ve struggled with self-restraint. Excluding that one time I got in from a night out and ordered two pizzas, fries, chicken nuggets and a pie (yep all for me, true story), I’m normally quite good at keeping myself in check and thinking carefully about what I really need/want. However, when I stepped into the beautiful palace that was Sephora in Florida, it was all I could do not to bomb up and down the aisles, swiping things off the shelves into my basket as if I was on Supermarket Sweep. It was, as I’m sure you all know by now, AMAZING. Us girls in the UK are so hard done by not having our own Sephora, but that’s a lament for another day.
I eventually managed to calm myself down and in the end only picked up a couple of things I definitely, absolutely, totally, 100% needed to buy before I left. And so I present you with my very restrained mini-haul.
First up was the iconic Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Whiz. I’ve been a loyal user of the ABH Dip Brow Pomade for about a year now and I honestly can’t praise that enough. However in recent months I had felt the urge to switch up my brow game a bit and see whether I could work with a slightly more natural look. In steps Brow Whiz. I got the shade Medium Brown, as that’s the shade I use in Dip Brow, and although it took me a couple of goes to get the hang of it, I’m now so in love. I’m sure I’ll still go back to Dip Brow when I want a dramatic on-fleek brow for nights out, but for a more casual day look I’m really enjoying using Brow Whiz. To take advantage of ABH while I could, I also had to pick up on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks, in the pinky-nude shade Milkshake. Everything I’ve heard about these lipsticks seems to be bang on – the pigmentation, the smoothness of application, the long-wearing. Eek. I need to place an order for approx 20 more.
Of course I wasn’t satisfied just with one nude lip product. I also decided to try a Sephora brand product, and this Sephora Rouge Gel Lip Liner in the shade 01 ‘The Nudest’ was an obvious choice for me. It’s a cool-toned nude with a slight hint of mauve… and I am OBSESSED. If I could find this exact shade in a lipstick then I’d buy it a hundred times over. Finally, I decided to pick up Benefit’s Shy Beam, their new-ish matte highlighter that piqued my interest a few months ago. Yes I could get this really easily in the UK, but I decided to get it in Sephora because I knew my buyer’s guilt wouldn’t come with me across the Atlantic ocean. I’m going to do a full review on this because it’s got me all in my feelings and I just need to go on about it at length. So I’ll leave you in suspense for that one.
Have you tried any of these products, or would you like to? Let me know in the comments!
