We all know how it is. You hit payday and roll around feeling like Snoop Dogg for a few days, wrapping yourself in furs and throwing money at strippers. Then the middle of the month appears and suddenly your bank account is making you want to throw up and you’re wondering if you can stretch to buying two types of fruit on your weekly shop (answer: no, put the conference pears back).
Now, some people will hit this skint part of the month and simply stop shopping. These people are known as ‘sensible adults’… Weird, right? If you’re like me though, and believe that a lack of funds is no good reason to stop treating yourself, then this post is for you. I’m bringing you some of the best online shopping sites I’ve found for grabbing some serious bargains while you wait for
Snoopday payday for reappear. Without further ado…
If you’re looking for something cheap and cheerful for your next night out, then I thoroughly recommend checking out Oh Polly, who can also be found on eBay under the username ‘pollycouture’. There are loads of dresses and co-ords, mostly around the £20-£25 mark. Some of the outfits on there might be a bit hoochie-chic (completely see-through lace midi dress anyone?) but even the more conservative ladies will be able to find themselves an appropriate bargain. I’ve ordered quite a few outfits from them, and the quality is also pretty good for the price.
For more everyday wear, including things that are perfect for work as well as dressier occasions, you need to head to MandM Direct. From £4.99 bikinis to discounted brands including Adidas, Ugg and Levis, this site has every category covered. And if you have more than just yourself to think about, then it also stocks menswear and childrenswear – winner winner. They also offer a premier delivery/returns service similar to ASOS Premier for just £19.99, which is also worth looking into if you’re a regular bargain hunter.
If you’re feeling skint but still have a taste for designer brands, then Zalando might be your new favourite online shop. While it’s not first and foremore a discount site, there are always plenty of bargains to be found – I bought my Nike trainers from Zalando last year for only around £40, which was a big saving at the time. If you’re edging further and further away from payday, then head to their sale section here and see what you could snap up.
Finally, no post on bargains or saving money would be complete without a mention of eBay. I’ve written quite a lot before about how you can often find the same clothes that are being stocked on well-known websites for a lot less on eBay, because a lot of the small eBay stores will use the same manufacturers as their more well-known counterparts. My recent eBay steal was one of these 2-piece loungewear sets, which are being sold everywhere at the moment for around £25 but can be bought from lots of different sellers for £10-£15. It might not seem like a huge saving, but when you’re a week away from payday a tenner can mean the difference between putting petrol in your car and trying to stow away in your neighbour’s boot to get to work.
What are your online go-tos when you’re a bit strapped for cash? Let me know in the comments!
