What’s In My Gym Bag?

Gym Bag 1Although you’d never think it if you saw me unleashed on a buffet table (give me ALL the pork pie), I do try to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle about 70% of the time. I’ve found that since buying a proper gym bag, my motivation to actually work out is much higher – I pack this in the morning and then head straight to the gym from work, knowing that I’m ready to go with everything I need.

So, to start with the bag itself – it’s this oh-so-classy and sophisticated leopard print quilted bag with neon zip detailing from New Look, and I bloody adore it. First in the bag goes my actual gym kit. My trainers are Nike Performance Studio Trainer 2 (or so the website tells me), and I bought them from Zalando because they have loads of pretty trainers in the sale ALL THE TIME (no, I don’t know why either). Apart from my gym leggings, which are Adidas, most of my sports bras and gym tops these days are from Primark. The vests can ride up a bit when you’re running, but that’s my only real issue with them – other than that, they’re cheap and cheerful, and Primark are regularly bringing out new colours and designs.

Next in the bag goes the amazing invention that is the Insjo ‘Bag in Bag’ Bag Organiser* In here I keep all of my gym essentials, including face wipes, a mini deodorant, body spray, hair bobbles and grips, and my headphones. It has plenty of different compartments and zips to keep my things organised, and it stops random bits and bobs getting lost in the sweaty clothes post-gym visit (I know, glamorous). I also obviously enjoy the fact that my one is this adorable peach colour and so matches my trainers and the gym bag. Finally, we have my leopard print water bottle, which is also from Primark, and I’ll sometimes have a little snack such as Naked bar that I can nibble on an hour before I hit the gym.

My gym kit is definitely nearly complete, but one thing I’m still hoping to get my hands on soon is a Fitbit. Articles such as this one on exercise trackers have convinced me that I need one; I think tracking my movement and calories throughout the day will give me that extra boost to go and burn some fat at the gym. Plus hopefully seeing it on my wrist every day will make me feel guilty if I keep reaching for another biscuit.

What are your gym essentials? Do any of you use an exercise tracker? Let me know in the comments!

I like the coordination! It’s great that Primark have also started doing gym stuff, and I hadn’t heard of the website before so thanks for the tip because I needed some new trainers 🙂
