When this bundle of goodies landed through my door, I nearly had an emotional breakdown out of sheer excitement and gratitude. Look at all of the beautiful things! LOOK AT THEM. The Estee Edit is a new(ish) range by Estee Lauder, inspired by the iconic woman herself and her mantra that “beauty is an attitude”. The collection, which includes skincare as well as makeup, has been curated by the brand’s guest editors, including Kendall Jenner. As a wise man once said, if it’s good enough for a Jenner, it’s good enough for me.
As a tiny-eyed girl I’m not the hugest eyeshadow fan, but I do like to have a selection of palettes to dip into when the urge takes me – and this could easily become my new one-stop eyeshadow palette. With a mix of matte and glitter shades in both warm and cool tones, the amount of looks that this one simple palette could create is huge.
I think I actually slipped into a bit of heavy breathing when I flipped open these compacts. I was confronted with the most beautiful powder products I’ve ever laid eyes on, and I’m happy to report that they’re not a case of style over substance. The blush, bronzer and highlighter are all super pigmented but still nice and subtle. Although the bronzer looks shimmery at first, this is purely aesthetic and it’s actually a stunning matte finish – I’ve been using it for the past two weeks as my new contouring shade and I absolutely love it. Also, a very obvious point but it’s bloody ginormous so I can see it lasting me a long time to come.
You may know that nude lipsticks are up there as one of my favourite things in the world, alongside puppies and 2-for-1 Dominos deals. So when I found not one, but two nude lipsticks, and a coordinating nude lipliner in the package, I could have wept with happiness. They all apply like an absolute dream, and the staying power is really good too. If nude isn’t your thing, then
we can’t be friends the Mattified Lipstick collection also includes reds, pinks, vampy purples and even a teal.
I think one of the things that makes it so clear that this range is very on-trend and millennials-focused is the amount of highlighting and brightening products. Daaaaamn, we love a highlight. The Flash Illuminator is a liquid highlighter that can be worn alone, mixed in with foundation or on top of makeup. The shade that I received is a tad too dark to use all over, but when I’m next tanned I know this is going to be such a must-have. I haven’t tried the Late Night Eraser yet either, but I’m really looking forward to it. With cucumber and apple alongside Pink Peony, the formula has been designed to be cooling and soothing for the under-eye area.
Overall I’m beyond excited about these products, and have loved the ones I’ve tried so far. Also, we obviously need to take a moment to appreciate the packaging. It’s very high-quality and luxe-feeling, but the splashes of cobalt blue give it a fun, younger edge.
I think this collection is an amazing way for Estee Lauder to reach a younger audience, but what do you think? Let me know in the comments!
