I’ll hold my hands up and say that I’m not the best when it comes to Mother’s Day, usually forgetting about it completely and having to go down the route of “Happy Mother’s Day! I haven’t got you a present because… I’m taking you out for lunch! [Cheesy panicked grin]”. In my defence, I think how good you are at Mother’s Day shopping depends on whether it was instilled in you from a young age or not. If you had a dad/stepdad/who-the-hell-ever who treats your mum like an absolute queen on Mother’s Day, then you’re probably going to naturally end up doing the same. But me? My dad once bought my mum a set of forks for Mother’s Day. I never stood a chance.
ANYWAY, this year I’m determined to be a bit more ahead of the game, and so have been checking out gift ideas that will definitely impress next month (no dining utensils in sight). First of all, it’s hard to think of a brand more suited to mums than L’Occitane* – and their range of Mother’s Day gifts is perfect. Whether you want to spend £15 on some cute hand soaps or splash out on the collection I’ve included above, your mum will feel so pampered and spoiled that she won’t shout at you about the state of your bedroom for at least a week – guaranteed. Alternatively, if your mum’s more into books than baths and doesn’t have a Kindle already, then it’s time to buy her one (for your own sanity, I’d recommend sticking to this basic model and not upgrading to the ones that also have general internet browsing, because anyone who’s had to help a mum learn how to use a tablet before knows that ain’t nobody got time for that).
Next, if your mum’s not like regular moms and is a cool mom, then the chances are she’s already lusted over your Olivia Burton watch. This minty one is super cute and also perfect for Spring. Finally, there are the Mother’s Day classics of new perfume and makeup gift sets – and the best thing about choosing genuinely nice ones like Flowerbomb and Charlotte Tilbury is that you can borrow them too. Reeeesult.
What will you be buying your mum this Mother’s Day? Let me know in the comments!
