ASOS Autumn/Winter 2013 Collection: Key Trends

Lauren and I are so crazy keen for Autumn/Winter shopping already that we actually wake up and get angry that it’s still warm outside (yes, we’re those people).

So we were beyond excited to see that Asos have launched their new A/W 2013 collection on site this week. And what’s even better is that they’re launching it with a 20% off sale. A SALE. ON NEW ITEMS. Waaaaaaaaah, it’s almost too exciting for us to cope with.

Asos are listing their key A/W trends as follows:

  • Punk It Up: tartan, dogtooth and leather
  • Girls’ World: girly knits and pleated skirts
  • Blue Denim: quite self explanatory – the bluer the better!
  • Winter Pastels: team lavendars and powder blues with thick black tights
  • Outsize Coats: boyfriend-esque jackets and oversized collars
  • Club Kids: sequins, gold and brights

They also identify the ‘mini trends’ of the season to be patent leather, buckled boots, animal prints (rumour has it that Lauren’s joyful shrieks could be heard from Texas), motif-printed jumpers, handle bags and layered necklaces. Phew! If you can’t work with all of that lot then frankly, there must be something wrong with you.

Here are some of my favourite picks from the new collection.

ASOS AW 2Glamorous Oversized Tartan T-Shirt

My neverending obsession with monochrome continues, as you can see. I’m happy to see leather sticking around, though I’m most keen to wear it in flashes and on sleeves, like in the jumper. Tartan is something I’m very slowly coming around to and think the key for me personally will be wearing it in non-traditional ways, such as the t-shirt. I’m also pleased that our pastels can be recycled into winter with the addition of some wooly tights, and of course I’M THRILLED that my thick gold chains can live for another day (though let’s be honest, I’d be wearing those regardless).
